Yisroel Schulman, Esq.
Yisroel Schulman graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1987. Upon graduation, he was hired as the youngest member of the full-time faculty of law at Cardozo, earning acclaim both in the classroom and the courtroom.
In 1990, Mr. Schulman co-founded the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG), a nonprofit law firm providing free civil legal services to low-income New Yorkers. He served as its President and Attorney-in-Charge, overseeing its growth from a single staff member to an organization of over 250 paid staff and 500 volunteers operating from 35 locations across New York.
By 2015, NYLAG served more than 75,000 individuals annually, with impact litigation benefiting hundreds of thousands more. That year, Mr. Schulman founded the Schulman Law Group to provide sophisticated legal counsel to individuals and non-profit and religious corporations across a broad range of matters.
From pioneering pro bono models adopted statewide, to leading disaster relief legal efforts for 9/11 and Superstorm Sandy, Mr. Schulman has shaped New York's legal landscape for a generation.

Involved in creating NYLAG's 9/11 Response Team, which assisted the majority of the immediate families of World Trade Center disaster victims with legal matters.
Involved in creating the State's largest legal services initiative for Hurricane Sandy victims — the NYLAG Superstorm Sandy Relief Program — providing critical assistance to thousands of displaced New Yorkers.
After 25 years building one of New York's most consequential legal nonprofits, Mr. Schulman launched the Schulman Law Group — bringing the same rigor and dedication to private practice.
